I work in Turku as a knee and sports orthopaedic surgeon. My clinical work focuses on knee injuries and advanced knee surgery. The treatment of a knee injury begins with an accurate diagnosis and understanding the patient's goals. The aim is to restore knee function and enable the safest possible return to physical activity or sport.

Returning to sport after a knee injury or surgery is not based on time alone. I assess recovery as a whole, taking into account biological healing, muscle strength, movement control, functional performance, the demands of the sport and the individual risk of reinjury

I am a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology, M.D., Ph.D., and Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. My clinical work focuses on knee and sports injuries, as well as demanding knee surgery.

Alongside my clinical work, I actively participate in orthopaedic and sports medicine education. My research has focused on topics such as meniscus treatment, cartilage injuries, osteochondritis dissecans, ligament injuries, and orthopaedic biomaterials. Research evidence is an important part of clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
